Update: Tilted Kilt Palm Desert has closed! Check out the Temecula Tilted Kilt instead!
Do you like beer, sports and scantily clad women? If you answered yes, you are probably known as a “straight male”- the demographic of choice for Tilted Kilt – Pub and Eatery. If you’re not familiar with this mixture of Yard House, Hooters and Killarney’s Irish Pub (Riverside/Temecula), chances are you don’t live in Palm Desert or Temecula- home to two of the four California locations (the other two are in Long Beach and San Diego). The Palm Desert location opened in March 2009 in a location with a capacity over 200.
Tilted Kilt promotes itself as a pub and eatery, and it lives up to both descriptions. The beers are plentiful, with numerous national brands as well as several local micro-brews. Among the local offerings is regional favorite Stone Brewery, which currently offers a pint night every Monday where patrons can try each of Stone’s offerings, while keeping the custom pint glass. Whether you prefer beers on tap or in bottles, if you can’t find something you like here, you probably don’t like beer. The food also lives up to its claim, with tasty but inexpensive happy hour grub. This reviewer tried the garlic fries, which did not disappoint.
If you become bored at Tilted Kilt, you might just be a boring person. Adding about as much classiness as can be found at your average frat party, a beer pong table awaits any patron who wishes to challenge their friends to the classic match. If that gets boring, venture out back for a putting green, apparently at no cost. If chatting with your friends while listening to a live DJ isn’t enough, watch the sports event of your choice on what seems like 50 flat screen TVs strategically placed throughout the venue. There are so many screens that the venue features a glass room with stacks of electronics to pipe the lives sports to TV both inside and outside the venue.
Oh, did I mention the waitresses dress as though they’re a catholic schoolgirl that just prefers to wear their clothes several sizes too small? Our server, Cookie (pictured below), was friendly and attentive, but never annoying. The male bartenders and barbacks are equally friendly (yes, that this location is agacent to LGBT-friendly Palm Springs is not a fact that escaped this reviewer).
SiNite (service industry night) is every Sunday at 9 P.M. with beer pong and a live DJ- $3 20oz domestic draft beer and $3.00 well drinks. Every Tuesday night is Karaoke, starting at 9pm, with happy hour drink and food prices.
If you’re looking for a unique night out with your buddies, your lady (or guy) or even a rowdy girls night out, Tilted Kilt will live up to your expectations.
