Recap March 4, 2012
We have finally recovered from our big party in Redlands on Saturday, and want to share what a excellent time and a great turnout we had. So many of our friends from the Things to Do Inland Empire Facebook community joined us, as well as many who had heard about the event elsewhere. We also were able to meet plenty of new people who we hope might be visiting the site for the first time today!
The Hangar 24 staff
was very helpful and of course their selection of brew was a perfect compliment to the great weather and atmosphere we all enjoyed. Gourmet Pizza Shop was our pizza of choice, which did not last long of course. The biggest hit was the dessert, an amazing assortment of treats that included cake pops and maple bacon cupcakes provided graciously by The De”Bite”Ful Cake Pop Shop.
We also had plenty of prizes to give away, which included tickets for the Yum Festival in Ontario, Ontario Reign tickets from Just Auto Insurance, gifts from Black Market and Packinghouse Breweries, Fox Theater Pomona tickets provided by Goldenvoice and passes to Killarney’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.
Maybe our most popular prize was the brand new Things to Do Inland Empire t-shirt, which we hope to be sharing more of soon so everyone can represent us all over the region.

“Hangar provides a perfect backdrop for those who celebrate successful entrepreneurs and event promoters that keep the fun here in the IE,” said Founding Editor Adina Hemley, a Los Angeles transplant who works with college students at U.of Redlands, Cal State San Bernardino and U.C. How will contests be decided? By random.org, of course, live at the event, and other live trivia games. There is no purchase necessary to enter. For one free entry, like our Facebook post on March 2, 2012 at facebook.com/ThingsToDoInlandEmpire. To improve your chances of winning, watch our Facebook page up to the date of the event as we’ll be providing numerous giveaways of extra entries into the contests.
To show our appreciation, we’ll have a healthy supply of Gourmet Pizza Shoppe pizzas on the patio for you to enjoy (while supplies last). “The only thing I love more than Hangar 24 beer is Hangar 24 with Gourmet Pizza Shoppe pizza,” remarked Author John Dodson, a Moreno Valley native and UCR student. We’ve also been informed that there will be free cupcakes from The De”Bite”Ful Cake Pop Shop.
We also encourage our fans to socialize and meet the person they got into a flame war with on our Facebook about the greatest ______(fill in the blank) in the Inland Empire. Hopefully, we can share tips about hanging out in the IE and making the area a better place while making friends and exchanging digits.
“This is where I’m from,” proclaimed Founding Editor Nate Hutchinson, the self-described architect of the site and native of Riverside. “It’s hard to believe that just one year ago, Things To Do Inland Empire was just an idea. Now it’s a reality, with over 3,600 fans on Facebook. We hope that spurs more people to encourage fun in the IE.”
Despite the site’s success, Editor-in-Chief Scott Talkov regularly hears people claim that “there’s nothing to do in the Inland Empire.” He disagrees, responding that “There’s always something to do in the Inland Empire, you just have to know where it is. That’s where we come in.”
