Smoke Out 2012 Review / Photos / Pics – March 3, 2012 – San Bernardino National Orange Show (NOS) Events Center

San Bernardino was packed with some of the best artists celebrating Southern California’s music and medical canibus culture at the National Orange Show Events Center on March 3, 2012.

Perhaps the biggest name of the day was Wiz Khalifa, who we hear showed up just minutes before his show and left immediately thereafter. Wiz was one of many headliners on the main stage.

The lineup also included the longstanding sponsor, Cypress Hill, with the crowd celebrating the culture as the band played longtime favorites like Insane in the Brain. The act was followed by Sublime with Rome, with the Long Beach based band bringing a massive crowd at the Smoke Out stage back to the 1990’s with classics like Date Rape.

The massive mosh pit didn’t stop for the unique final act- Korn, whose mix of old hit singles like Freak on a Leash brought fans back with the Grammy award winning artist. Korn mixed the songs in with new collaborative mixes with Skrillex, such as Get Up.

The event included a medical canibus consumption area for patients with identification. The vendors were plentiful, friendly and not overpriced.

Warning: local parking lots approaching the National Orange Show hosted parking attendants that charged many unsuspecting visitors $20 (or more) for parking near the venue. Most ticket holders knew that the venue provided parking, which was included in the ticket price. The free parking lot (just as close as the other lots) had plenty of space, and the friendly staff members were equally as surprised that anyone would pay for parking. Smoke Out did a great job getting the word out that parking was free, so pass the word along to others not to fall for this at Guerilla Union events. Insomniac events at NOS Events Center are a different story, and parking is often quite expensive.

We’re glad that Smoke Out 2012 brought an excited and packed crowd to a venue right in our back yard!

TICKET PRICE: GA – $75, VIP – $199, HIGH ROLLER – $450

The event is presented by Guerilla Union, which also hosts Paid Dues, Spring Gathering and Rock the Bells at the NOS Fairgrounds in San Bernardino.

The festival was originally slated to take place on November 5, 2011. Chang Weisberg, owner and founder of Guerilla Union, states, “Due to several scheduling conflicts and in an effort to produce the world class music festival we all expect of this annual extravaganza, more time was needed to book the best possible show for our fans, artists, and our patients.” All tickets purchased during Guerilla Union’s ‘Early Bird’ pre-sale promotion (that took place from July 16 – July 29 earlier this year), will be upgraded and honored at the new festival date. Weisberg adds, “We’re also hooking up our fans who bought pre-sale tickets with an upgrade.” Detailed information on ticket upgrades will be relayed to all ‘Early Bird’ pre-sale ticket purchasers.

This year’s Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival will feature an astounding and diverse lineup with over two dozen acts on several stages. Already signed on for exclusive performances are Sublime with Rome and Cypress Hill with special guests. Sublime with Rome made their debut as the new musical collaboration between original members Erich Wilson and Bud Gaugh and lead vocalist Rome Ramirez at the Cypress Hill Smoke Out Festival in 2009. Following an international tour in 2010 and a new album release Yours Truly in July 2011, the trio will make its way back to the stage where it all began. Festival partners and platinum selling artists Cypress Hill will be performing alongside special surprise guests. Many more artists will be announced at a later date.

In addition to the musical aspect, the Cypress Hill Smoke Out Festival is bringing back the ancillary activations that have made it the unique and ultimate-destination festival it is today. The Medical Marijuana Expo will host leading hemp industry exhibits and expert panel discussions, and the Patient’s Only Zen Garden will provide peace and privacy for California registered medical marijuana patients. There will also be a Massive Munchie Garden, interactive vendor village, and much more. A complete list of activities and attractions will be announced at a later date.
