Located just a few miles away from Victoria Gardens, SimpliciTea serves a large variety of high-quality loose-leaf tea. You can enjoy
anything from their White Coconut Crème tea blend to something as simple as Jones Soda. I had the honor of trying the Halo-Award Winning white tea. This blend was as beautiful as it was delicious. The tea comes served in a clear pot so that you may watch the blossom bloom into an ornate magenta flower. Other blends, such as the Plum Oolong and Jasmine Pearls are fantastic. Another great thing about the tea is that you
can have it packed up to take home with you. The leaves can be steeped up to 5 times, so you really get your money’s worth. The employees are also highly knowledgeable, so if you know nothing about tea, they are more than happy to lend you their expertise. Since there is a lot of tea to choose from, SimpliciTea came up with a unique solution. They have a “smelling bar” that contains little samples of every tea. That way, you can smell the tea before you choose which one to drink.
If tea is not something you are into, please do not disregard this place. Their food is to-die-for! They have some awesome sandwiches that are definitely worth trying. The Three Musketeers sandwich is like the ultimate grilled cheese, containing 3 kinds of cheeses: havarti, provolone, and American. You can even add some sundried tomatoes for only $1. The Italian sandwich is another great one that will have you begging for more. Each sandwich is served on locally purchased Garlic Rosemary sourdough and comes with a side of organic greens. They also serve clam chowder daily in addition to the Soup du Jour.
And now to the part you’ve all been waiting for: dessert. I cannot rave enough about the desserts. SimpliciTea creates and bakes all of their pastries every day. I only wish I could have tried all the desserts, but I have to say that the scones are incredible. The scones come fully equipped with your choice of jam (I enjoyed the strawberry and blueberry) and a side of Devonshire crème. The Lemon Ginger Cupcake is
another popular menu item. The menu also has a variety of cookies, cakes, and muffins.
SimpliciTea is not just a place that you walk into, order, and leave. They encourage their customers to stay and partake in an experience that is both ancient and significant. They have a bookcase filled with novels, children’s books, and books about tea. If you don’t feel like reading, you can also play a nice game of chess with a friend or watch any of the black-and-white films they show daily. This establishment also hosts and Open Mic Night every Saturday evening. SimpliciTea is definitely a place worth checking out, if not for the tea then for the ambiance, the experience, and of course, the desserts.
A pot of tea starts at just $3.99.
