Forget the year of the dragon! 2012 is the year of incredible music festivals. The best part about summer 2012 is that there are some major music events to look forward to not just in California, but throughout the entire country. Electric Daisy Carnival and Hard Summer are two highly anticipated music events that will take place very soon. With EDC just a few days away, Hard Summer is one more major event that is absolutely worth experiencing.
This is the first year in their five-year history that Hard Summer will occur over an entire weekend. Two days of electronic music, what could be better? The festival will feature appearances from an eclectic variety of musicians including Skrillex, A-Trak, Bloc Party, Nero, Boys Noize, Miike Snow, Dillon Francis, Bloody Beetroots, and much much much more (pardon the repetition, but it’s exciting). You also never know who else may pop in!
Hard summer prides itself on bringing you a diverse collection of music. You can expect to hear songs from many subgenres of electronic music. Dubstep, trance, hip-hop, house, baile funk, and moombahton are just a few. With the addition of Bloc Party to the lineup, indie rock is another genre added to the list.
This event is sure to satisfy any musical appetite you may have. The affair is scheduled to take place on August 3rd and 4th at Los Angeles State Historic Park. Two of the four stages have already been announced on the event’s website. The other two stages have yet to be announced, but are guaranteed to have some awesome combinations.

One tiny bonus to this event is the fact that it will not take place during the day. This means no sweating bullets while waiting in line for water and no sunburns! The festival begins at 6:00pm and ends at 2:00am, both days. Check the forecast ahead of time, because LA nights can sometimes feel like San Francisco days. The venue is also strict on what you bring into the event. This means (sadly) no gasmasks, pacifiers, or toys. Please check the safety rules before heading out to the event.
Tickets are available for purchase online and at several locations in the Inland Empire. Pick up your ticket as soon as possible because an incredible event like this is sure to sell out very soon. Also, expect to see a lot of people. Last year, over 30,000 people attended the event.
If you have not heard of some of these artists, do not fret. You can go to the website for a free
download of A-Trak’s Hard Summer 2012 mix! That’s right, FREE! You can also download A-Trak’s monthly podcast, A-Trak Presents: Fools Gold Radio. It is a great way to preview some of the music you may hear that weekend, plus it’s free (which is always a good thing).
