Eureka! Burger – Redlands / Claremont

Eureka! Burger in Redlands, and now in Claremont,  is certainly in the running for the best gourmet burger joint in the Inland Empire, not withstanding that their craft beer selection rivals some of the best beer bars as well. There’s a reason everyone is talking about them.

This trendy restaurant is conveniently located off the Eureka exit (hard to remember, I know!) on the 10 Freeway Eastbound, right at the end of the 210 freeway on Pearl Avenue in Redlands. The vibe was distinctly young, with a crowd almost entirely from 21-35 on the Friday night we visited.

The menu is impressive, with 12 signature burgers to choose from. Our waiter informed us that the most popular (or maybe just his favorite) burgers are the Cowboy Burger (cheddar cheese, shoestring onion rings, crispy bacon, served with our homemade beer barbeque sauce), which he described as an amazing version of the Bacon Western Cheeseburger at Carl’s Jr., and the  (homemade fig marmalade, melted goat cheese, crispy bacon, garnished with minced tomato, onion and arugula dolloped in a spicy porter mustard). After selecting the latter, I was in awe over their ability to blend such complex flavors into a seemingly simple menu item- the classic hamburger. Equally tasty were the sweet potato fries, which are topped with a cinnamon sugar sauce (think sweet cinnamon bun).

The craft beer selection is extensive and contains among the best. Their regular tap selection includes Redland’s own Hangar 24 Orange Wheat, IPA and Alt-Bier as well as selections from Stone, Racer 5 and Rogue. Their tap selection also features numerous rotating handles, so you never know what you’ll be able to try. Their bottle selection is lengthy. I opted for Russian River’s Pliny the Elder, the highly regarded IPA, which complimented my burger perfectly. In case you just want a brew, they also have a bar you can pull up to.

If you like Eureka! Burger but live in the western end of the Inland Empire/eastern end of Los Angeles County, Eureka! Burger is opening their third location in Claremont at The Packing House (532 West First Steet, Claremont, CA 91711) with a scheduled opening date this month.

If you want a great date spot, a place to hang out with friends or even a place to take the family or folks from out of town, Eureka! Burger will live up to the hype.
