Dale Bros. Brewery opened in 2001 and sold their first cold microbrew in 2003. Today, the brewery is booming- tripling in size, then expanding yet again by moving to the Cable Airport in Upland (coming soon).
In the Summer of 2011, Dale Bros added a tasting room, which they call their growler room, offering samples and pints of their tasty beers, as well as merchandise and kegs. They regularly have special events, with guest bartenders and funds going to charitable causes.
On the day we dropped by, Dale Brothers offered three major brews, and one seasonal:
- Pomona Queen is Dale Bros. Brewery’s flagship beer- an American-Style Amber Lager brewed, which they describe as an “uncommonly drinkable beer that complements a wide variety of food.” We thought this was particularly tasty to a wide variety of beer drinkers.
-
California Black Beer – a classic American Style Dark Lager. While its color may remind many of Stouts and other full-bodied dark ales, California Black Beer is a traditional dark lager, with lighter body and a slightly chocolaty finish that frequently appeals to many people who enjoy lighter beers. Like the bear, it is called black. But if you look closely, it’s really brown. - Runway I.P.A. is Dale Bros. first ale, as their customers kept imploring them to brew a Dale Bros. version of an I.P.A. It contains four hop additions in the brew kettle, then brings it in for a landing with multiple dry hop additions. The flavor and aroma are courtesy of Summit, Galaxy and Cascade hops.
- K9 (Winter Seasonal) – A dark, flavorful beer that the head brewer is still perfecting.
They also have many other seasonal beers – check the full list here.
If you want to try their beers elsewhere, you can find them at BevMo, Total Wine, liquor stores, bars and restaurants around Upland from the 57 Freeway to the 15 Freeway. They’ve got a big list of locations offering their brews. According to Andy Dale, they can’t keep their beer in stock in light of the ever-expanding demand for their frosty cold ones.
Dale Bros. Brewery is currently located at 1495 W. 9th Street, Unit 603, Upland, CA 91786.
