~~Tickets on sale Friday, January 13, 2012 at www.coachella.com/festival-passes.~~ Update: Coachella 2012 SOLD OUT in less than three hours.

“Passes for both weekends go on sale this Friday, January 13at 10 AM PST. There are not many left for Weekend 1 and those must bepurchased with a shuttle pass,” according to Goldenvoice on January 11, 2012.

Just months after a successful Coachella 2011, Coachella 2012 announcements are already up, including that next year’s show will be two weekends long and that tickets go on sale June 3, 2011.

The biggest news is that Coachella will now be two identical weekends! Yes, really, the popularity of this concert is so large that the expansive Empire Polo Fields can no longer handle the crowd in just one weekend.While no two events are truly identical, Coachella announced that they “will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people.”

The two weekends will be:

Coachella Weekend 1 – April 13-15, 2012
Coachella Weekend 2 – April 20-22, 2012

The second big news item announced by Goldenvoice is that Coachella passes go on sale beginning Friday, June 3rd, 2011, at 10am PST until the following Friday June 10th, 2011, at 10pm PST. They inform us that this advance sale will be the only opportunity to take advantage of the Coachella Payment Plan. Passes will be available through a payment plan of 10% down and 8 equal monthly payments OR by payment in full. Thus, the price of three-day passes remains at $269 plus fees for the sixth consecutive year.

A very brief FAQ is posted online, with no other information available at this time, including the lineup for Coachella 2012. Still unanswered is if there will be a metal event similar to Big 4. Stagecoach 2012 will follow this event by one week. Watch this site for more information as it becomes available.

Coachella 2012 lineup rumors

So if you want the Coachella lineup rumors for 2012, we’ve got ‘em. How accurate are these rumors? Probably not any better than any others, but here they are, directly from our fans: Daft Punk, Radiohead (rumored headliner 6 years running) and Gary Numan (not sure how much stock to put into this one).
