Authentic Mexican cuisine can be found in nearly every Southern California town and Ontario’s certainly no exception with Casa Sanchez located near the 60 Freeway.
Brightly lit and with a soft interior, Casa Sanchez is an authentic Mexican restaurant with food loaded with flavor. One of the offerings it’s known for is its Menudo, the Mexican soup known as the cure for the hangover (or “Los Crudos” as it’s known in Espanol). With chewy tripe and a strong broth, this writer’s palate was kept busy until the main dishes arrived.
Casa Sanchez has three locations in SoCal: Ontario, Fontana and Rowland Heights. It’s been in the same family since 1989, so it’s been able to keep a homemade touch to it that keeps its loyal clientele coming back. It was voted the best Mexican restaurant by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin’s readers, and the food is the reason why. Check out their Yelp review to see more.
Up for this reviewer were its Carnitas fajitas and Chile Verde. Some restaurants load their fajitas with excessive vegetables, but not Casa Sanchez. Their fajitas plate is a great value, full of meat and with just the right amount of veggies to fill the tortillas. Their Chile Verde was good too, with a thick sauce and pieces of pork at just the right tenderness. The rice wasn’t dry, which is always a plus at Mexican restaurants.
With homemade chips and salsa, a trip to Casa Sanchez can’t go wrong. But the only area for improvement this writer saw was with the salsa (it was a tad bit too runny for our preference). Our personal view with salsa is, the thicker, the better. But all in all Casa Sanchez offers great authentic Mexican food at a great price.
And when you’re done chomping on your big burritos, breakfast platters (offered all day) or bacon-wrapped shrimp (also a tasty treat), try their deep-fried ice cream (who knew ice cream could be deep fried?). You’ll think you won’t have any room, but you’ll be glad you did!
