BAM Fest (Beer, Art, and Music Festival) Santa Monica

A festival celebrating art, music, and craft beer (hey, it’s another form of art), BAM is one of the pioneering events of its kind on L.A.’s westside. It offers a trifecta of locally produced art, music, and suds with 30 craft breweries (including IE favorite Hangar 24), four bands, three galleries, open artist studios, and food trucks.

That should make for a pretty cool event. Last year’s event even had a bike valet for environmentally savvy event goers, and previous festivals had some of Southern California’s best craft breweries hailing from L.A. to San Diego.

Tickets are $35 each (you can get them online here), and get you a tasting glass with unlimited sampling for five hours along with all the music. The event runs from 1 to 6pm, and check out this youtube videoto get an idea how it’s like.

As for the food trucks on hand, here’s a few event organizers have announced: Mexican dishes by the Border Grill Truck, crispy Belgian treats by the Crispy Waffle & Frite Truck, “maneater” sized burgers from Baby’s Badass Burgers, family-farmed pork from Let’s Be Frank Dogs, gourmet organic food provided by the Green Truck, and warm flavorful pizza slices from Fresh Brothers Pizza will all be available for those who want to complement their suds with some carbs.

There will be plenty of music, with genres including rural blues rock & roll, early country, to Appalachian folk music. Musical acts include The Americans, Lysa Flores and East L.A. Taiko, American Bloomers, The Dustbowl Revival, and DJ Freshair.

The event’s proceeds benefit the 18th Street Arts Center, the Santa Monica non-profit that organizes the event and provides a community service for those in the area. The website is pretty bare bones, but when the event location is announced we’ll let you know.

Tickets go on sale August 1st, and are just $35 before September 22. Wait until the 23rd and tickets rise to $40 each.
