The 86-year-old King is widely regarded as one of the finest and most influential blues musicians in the entire genre since his rise in the 1950s. He has made over 5o albums in his storied career, including The Blues, Singing’ the Blues, My Kind of Blues, Blues on Top of Blues and King of the Blues. Accompanied by Lucille, his faithful guitar with its own Wikipedia page, King has traveled numerous times across the globe, playing hundreds of shows a year and spreading the blues to millions of fans. Rolling Stone recently ranked King as the 6th greatest guitar player of all time.
Some of King’s best-known hits include “The Thrill is Gone,” “How Blue Can You Get” and “Every Day I Have the Blues.” Many of the 20th century’s most celebrated musicians, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Dan Aykroyd, have been directly influenced by King’s innovative R&B sound.
